Sildenafil is the active ingredient in Viagra. Viagra (Sildenafil) is a prescription drug that helps treat erectile dysfunction (ED). Sildenafil belongs to a class of drugs called PDE5 inhibitors (phosphodiesterase-5 enzyme inhibitors) which work by blocking an enzyme called PDE5, allowing for more blood to flow to your penis so that you can maintain your erection during sexual stimulation.
